N.E. Downing (Blackheath) Ltd. is a fourth-generation, family-run funeral directors based in Brierley Hill, West Midlands. With a history spanning several decades, they have long served families across the Black Country with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail during times of grief. The business has grown to incorporate several respected funeral brands, including J.T. Brookes, J.R. Jones, Dainty & Downing, and T. Hadley Funeral Directors. As one of the longest-established independent funeral directors in the region, N.E. Downing is committed to maintaining their reputation for personal service and care at every step.

Solution

To unify their expanding group under a cohesive visual identity while retaining the individual legacy of each branch, N.E. Downing partnered with The Digital Gap and Mooch Creative. The project focused on delivering a refreshed, respectful brand identity for the main group and all its associated branches. This identity needed to reflect tradition and trust, while also feeling modern and accessible.

A new website was designed and developed to reflect this updated brand and to improve user experience across all devices. Supporting this, Mooch Creative also designed a new brochure and magazine adverts to further communicate the group’s services with elegance and clarity. To humanise the brand and bring its story to life, bespoke photography and video were created by Lee Cogswell, capturing the team, environment, and values behind N.E. Downing. Essential Marketer supported SEO work to ensure the new website ranked strongly on Google.
